CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne Central girls edged Campbell County to win the team championship at the Wyoming indoor state track and field meet Saturday in Gillette.
The Lady Indians finished with 103.33 team points, while Campbell County had 100.
Central got a win from junior Sydney Morrell in the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 20.83 seconds). She also was second in the 1,600 (5:17.58). Senior Kaya Pillivant placed third in the 1,600 (5:20.35).
Senior Katie Thompson leapt 35 feet 9½ inches to win triple jump. She also took fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.07 seconds).
Junior Brinkley Lewis cleared 10-8 to win pole vault and set a new school record.
Burns-Pine Bluffs senior Emma Gonzalez won the 1,600 in 5:16.89.
Cheyenne East sophomore Taliah Morris placed second in the 55-meter dash (7.39).
The Central boys were second in the team races with 75 points. Sheridan won the title at 139.
The Indians got a runner-up finish from Bridger Brokaw in the 800 (2:02.15). Senior Jacob Frentheway was third in the 1,600 (4:35.66) and sixth in the 800 (2:03.11).
East junior Marik Cummings placed third in the 55 (6.64). He also joined Ethan Brinkman, Ian Garcia and Jude Guevara on the third-place 4×200 relay team (1:34.43).
